During a pupil's time in Lornshill Academy they will be given the opportunity to undertake work experience. This will sometimes be with a local employer, voluntary organisation or within the school. Such opportunities enrich our offering and afford students many benefits such as those outlined below:

• They help with decisions: work experience gives pupils a taste of what a particular job or workplace is like, so they can figure out whether or not they are interested in pursuing that career path
• Builds self-confidence: working with other people and completing activities in a real work setting can help to build confidence
• Improves their profile: whether or not it is on their CV, UCAS form or job application, work experience shows a pupil's enthusiasm and readiness to work. Particular achievements or activities completed on work experience can also be used to showcase ability
• Build new skills: working with other people allows pupils to build skills that employers love their potential employees to have
• Networking: pupils will meet people during work experience and might attend meetings or events. The contacts they make could help to provide a reference or help in the future
