Science is an important part of our heritage and we use its applications every day in our lives at work, at leisure and in the home. Science and the application of science are central to our economic future and to our health and wellbeing as individuals and as a society. Through learning in the sciences, our young people develop their interest in, and understanding of, the living, material and physical world.

Over the course of S1 and S2 we will explore the human body, micro-organisms, electricity, forces, chemical reactions and acids and alkalis as well as develop our scientific literacy, numeracy and problem solving skills.

Assessing in the BGE

Continuous assessment is undertaken throughout the session to track pupils’ progress and class tests are undertaken at appropriate times. These class tests are supported by other forms of assessment throughout lessons.

Assessment is for Learning strategies assist in skills and knowledge development and are embedded in all our S1 – S3 courses.
