S2 Courses

S2 Administration & IT

This course's main emphasis is on skills development and the application of those skills. They will use the different IT application packages and learn about these within a given real life context.  The main areas they will look at are: Spreadsheets, Word and Databases.  By developing these skills pupils are also contributing their knowledge in terms of skills for life and work.

 

S2 Business Skills

This course's main emphasis is building on developing pupil's knowledge of the world of work and in particular Business Organisations.  The main areas they will study include:  Types of Business Organisation, Marketing, Budgeting & Finance and Computer Systems.  By developing their knowledge in these areas,  pupils are also contributing their knowledge in terms of skills for life and work.

Home Economics

Home Economics is a valuable and important subject which gives young people a variety of essential life skills which will be useful for a whole range of employment and life opportunities.

Throughout the S1-2, pupils cover a range of topics which give an introduction into the importance of food, health, and hygiene.  Pupils learn through practical hands-on cookery which is directly linked to knowledge learned during theory-based lessons. 

Topics include: 

Introduction to Hygiene and Safety in the kitchen.

Nutrition including The Eatwell Plate.

Germ War 

Food Product Development.

Assessing in the BGE

Continuous assessment is undertaken throughout the session to track pupils’ progress and class tests are undertaken at appropriate times. These class tests are supported by other forms of assessment throughout lessons.

Assessment is for Learning strategies assist in skills and knowledge development and are embedded in all our S1 – S3 courses.
