Mr Tom Black
Headteacher

Welcome from the Headteacher

I am very pleased to welcome you to Lornshill Academy’s website.  The site has recently been re-designed and I hope you find it informative and easy to use.  There is a great deal of useful information already available on the website and it also provides a number of links to other key sites and we shall add to these over time.

Lornshill Academy is a six year comprehensive school, situated between the village of Tullibody and Alloa with a student roll of around 1130.  Within our learning community we are fully committed to providing opportunities for every pupil to achieve success, to make friends, to discover new talents and to develop new skills.

We offer opportunities for your child to take part in a wide range of activities including sports, music, drama, and cultural activities in addition to the academic life of the school.  In return we ask that your child shows us commitment, works hard, sets high expectations and takes responsibility for supporting our school community.

Our teachers, support staff and many partners are hard-working, caring and devote many hours of their time to providing excellent learning experiences including clubs and activities outside the normal school day.

Positive relationships with all our partners are core to our success and you will always be made to feel welcome within our school.

Our Campus

In August 2009, the school entered a brand new building with state-of-the-art facilities and an environment that was specifically designed to support dynamic and innovative Learning and Teaching. As well as occupying a commanding elevated position in impressive landscaped grounds, the school is very well equipped and meticulously maintained.

At Lornshill Academy we enjoy the benefits of a number of wonderful assets including:

  • Extensive sport and fitness facilities, which also serve the local community
  • Flexible learning areas for each faculty

  • Career focussed Food Technology and Hospitality facilities
  • Well resourced practical workshops
  • Grass and astroturf playing fields
  • Full-size running track
  • Mirrored dance studios
  • An amphitheatre for outdoor performances and gatherings

In recent years these resources have been put to very productive use enriching the experiences of pupils, parents, staff and our local community.
